A life size rendering (fifty feet long) of the the "THE PINK" a neighborhood bar in Buffalo, NY.I drew The Pink with ballpoint pen, which I chose for its relationship to the vernacular. Rare for a drawing of an interior space, this piece provides a panoramic effect. The Pink Flamingo bar is an icon in Buffalo, offering a compelling amalgamation of objects, the detritus of blue-collar America: a sprawl of bottles, tchotchkes, political slogans, bumper stickers. The effluvia of American dreamers reflects, in a microcosm, the ambivalence, chaos, and anger that sometimes seems to define America. 60 x 600", 2007.
